Proofdesk by Headsir is an advanced web workstation specifically designed for proofreading, transcribing, and digitizing classical literature, historical texts, and modern documents in Assamese and other Indic scripts.
Our Mission & Purpose
Preserving and digitizing Assamese literary heritage requires meticulous accuracy. Traditional text editors are not built for side-by-side transcription of archival scans, nor do they handle Assamese complex conjuncts, inflectional morphology, and spellchecking accurately.
ProofDesk was created to solve these challenges. It provides a specialized environment where proofreaders, archivists, researchers, and writers can upload high-resolution source documents (scanned PDFs or image pages) and transcribe them with millimeter precision alongside an intelligent, context-aware editor.

Powered by the official Headsir Assamese dictionary engine, ProofDesk analyzes root lemmas, suffixes, prefixes, hyphenated word-pairs, and compound words with intelligent inflection preservation.
Optional AI-Powered Assistance
Connect your Gemini API key to intelligently detect complex OCR errors, clarify archaic vocabulary, and suggest linguistic improvements with one-click corrections.
Google Drive App Data Sync
Seamlessly backup and synchronize proofreading projects across multiple devices using a private, isolated application folder in your own Google Drive.
How ProofDesk Uses Google Drive
To protect your work from accidental browser data clearing and to enable working across multiple computers (e.g., between office desktop and home laptop), ProofDesk integrates with Google Drive.
Restricted Application Data Folder Scope (`drive.appdata`)
ProofDesk requests only the restricted scope: https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.appdata.
- Zero Access to Personal Files: ProofDesk cannot view, read, search, modify, or delete any of your personal spreadsheets, documents, photos, or files in your Google Drive.
- Isolated Sandbox: Google creates a hidden, dedicated folder accessible exclusively by ProofDesk. Only your
.hdsrproject files and preferences are stored there. - 100% User Owned: You retain complete ownership of all data. You can disconnect ProofDesk from your Google Account at any time through Google Account Security settings.
